Jessica also supports survivors at a California women’s prison by facilitating trauma-informed art workshops. Previously, she worked at rape crisis centers, domestic violence programs and sexual health agencies across California as an advocate and educator. She is a trained rape crisis counselor.
Theta Perez is a long-term resident of Portales. She has been an advocate for victims of sexual assault for over 4 years and has been with Arise Sexual Assault Services for two years. She loves to serve her community through service and volunteering on the Dora Fire Department. She entered into Arise as a rural advocate but found a passion for incarcerated victims and survivors shortly after her start date. She educates detention and correctional staff, continuously provides in-person support to inmates and detainees via 1-on-1 or group setting regarding PREA matters and is current with local and national PREA changes due specialized PREA-specific trainings.
